Alvaro Rodriguez, who was the featured guest at Script-Com last year, will join the conference again in 2025 via Zoom for a seminar on writing action-thrillers.
Born and raised along the South Texas border, Alvaro is the co-screenwriter of the iconic action film Machete which features an all-star cast and the slightly-less iconic kids’ movie Shorts. Alvaro also wrote and co-produced the true-crime drama feature The Last Rampage and is the screenwriter of From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter.
Never one to feel constrained by genre, Alvaro is the co-creator and executive producer of the adult-animated series Seis Manos for Netflix and he has written or produced for such TV series as Chicago Fire for NBC, Florida Man for Netflix, the From Dusk Till Dawn TV series for the El Rey Network and he served as a writer and supervising producer on Showtime/Amazon’s critically-acclaimed drama American Rust.
Alvaro has published multiple short fiction stories including in the After Death anthology which won a Bram Stoker Award and he's a composer on the soundtrack of the legendary guerilla action film, El Mariachi.
In addition to leading Script-Com panels in 2024, Alvaro was also featured in two episodes of the Tennessee Screenwriting Association's streaming series Page 2 Screen.
Script-Com is sponsored by the Tennessee Screenwriting Association in partnership with Tennessee Entertainment Commission, Nashville Film Institute, and NECAT.
