'Script-Com' Expands to Week-Long Conference for Screenwriters & Filmmakers!

ree

The Tennessee Screenwriting Association ("TSA"), an educational not-for-profit 501c(3) since 1988, announced a major expansion of its annual Script-Com Screenwriters Conference, which will be held the week of November 10 -16, 2025.

Historically, Script-Com has been an annual event which was part of the Film-Com market until both events went exclusively online during the COVID pandemic. Last year, Script-Com came back into the real world as an in-person event and drew over 120 people over a weekend in November, making it one of the most well-attended and dynamic events of its kind in the South on a fraction of the budget and volunteers that similar events have at their disposal.

This year, Script-Com will again try something new: a "hybrid" format which combines online and in-person events. From Monday through Friday (Nov. 10-14), Script-Com will be held online via Zoom, with workshops and panels featuring screenwriters, directors, and producers working in the industry.

On Saturday (Nov. 15), Script-Com goes "live" from the Nashville Film Institute (NFI), with intensive writing workshops, followed by a cocktail mixer, an awards dinner presentation for the winner of TSA's 'Short 'N Scary' script contest and graduates of its Script School writing program, followed by screenings of short films made by TSA members.

On Sunday (Nov. 16), Script-Com moves to the campus of Nashville State Community College for a taping of TSA's streaming series Page 2 Screen and other events still being planned.

"I'm so excited about the program we have lined up this year for Script-Com," says Mark Naccarato, president of the TSA. "For those who can't make it into Nashville, we have you covered on Zoom and for those who want to meet other writers, producers, and industry professionals face-to-face, here's your chance."

"Whether you're writing your first script or your twenty-first, there is going to be something for you at Script-Com," says Melissa Sheridan, a TSA board member who serves on Script-Com's conference committee. "We've lined up dozens of industry pros who have done this for real and know what they're talking about. You will basically get an entire film-school education on screenwriting and low-budget filmmaking over a one-week period."

Ticket sales will be broken into three categories. A "Producer" badge will allow access to all Script-Com events, both online and in-person, as well as password access to the Script-Com Library of exclusive screenwriting seminars hosted by the Tennessee Screenwriting Association. A "Writer" badge grants access to the Monday-Friday Zoom sessions and the Script-Com Library. An "Exec" badge grants access to the Awards Dinner and film festival events on Saturday evening at Nashville Film Institute. All badge holders are invited to the Page 2 Screen events on Sunday at the NECAT Network studio.

Details regarding Script-Com's instructors, schedule, and registration is at the Script-Com website: www.ScriptCom.org. Discounts are available to members of the TSA and to students with a valid student ID.

Script-Com is co-sponsored by the Tennessee Entertainment Commission, Nashville Film Institute, and NECAT.
