Hollywood Pros Talk "Straight From the Heart" About Writing Hallmark & Christmas Movies at Script-Com!

Updated: 5 days ago

With all the bad news in the world, movies that touch the heart, warm up the holidays, and leave viewers with a feel-good glow are dominating the demand for content today. But high demand doesn’t mean writers can hope to sell a quickly dashed-off script and that's where the Script-Com Screenwriters Conference can help aspiring storytellers.

The conference's 'Straight from the Heart' panel features industry pros Christine Conradt and Bob Saenz, who will share their experiences in the business about how to craft well-written, saleable screenplays that producers and audiences will enjoy.

Christine Conradt has earned over 80 credits in screenwriting, directing and producing for film and television and is a published author. Some of her popular titles are Open By Christmas, On the 12th Date of Christmas, and Tipline Mysteries: Dial 1 for Murder. Christine will share her knowledge on writing Hallmark and Christmas movies. She draws from over two decades of experience in the movie industry that also includes speaking at conferences and consulting services where her students have said “Christine’s thoughtful, detailed, and constructive notes were the equivalent of taking an entire semester of a screenwriting class!”

Bob Saenz has written over a dozen movies for Hallmark and independent production

companies, including Help for the Holidays, A Dash of Christmas, and the breakout hit Church People. Bob's also the author of a screenwriting book That's Not the Way It Works... as well as a best-selling YA novel, Jessica's Vampire Diary. Bob's latest movie, Operation Mistletoe is now on Hulu. Having worked many years as an actor on TV and films, Bob also has the unique perspective of knowing what it's like to speak the writer’s word.

Script-Com is a week-long conference with virtual panels during the week of Nov. 10-14, followed by in-person events held in Nashville on November 15 and 16. The conference will also offer seminars on writing action, thriller, faith-based, and horror movies as well as a panel on writing for television and a logline workshop. Saturday's In-person events at Nashville Film Institute include workshops on screenwriting structure and low-budget filmmaking, an awards dinner, a table read and a film festival, followed by a taping of the streaming series, Page 2 Screen on Sunday at the NECAT studio in West Nashville.

Tickets are on sale at www.ScriptCom.org, with discounts available to members of the Tennessee Screenwriting Association ("TSA").

The Script-Com Screenwriters Conference is sponsored by the Tennessee Screenwriting Association in partnership with Tennessee Entertainment Commission, Nashville Film Institute, and NECAT.
